Collapsible vs. rigid wire containers: a total-cost comparison for distributors
Oct 13, 2026 · Brynick Newsroom, Ningbo

Rigid containers look cheaper per unit — until freight is counted. A collapsible wire container folds to roughly one-fifth of its assembled volume, so a 40HQ that carries ~180 rigid units can carry 500+ folded ones.
For importers paying per container, folded designs usually win on landed cost even at a higher unit price, and they slash return-logistics cost for closed-loop users.
The trade-off is assembly time at destination: about 30 seconds per unit with a trained operator.
